Acne

Breakouts arrive with more advice attached than any other skin concern, and most of it is trying to sell you something. This page is what we actually tell clients.

What is actually going on

Acne is a blocked pore before it is anything else: oil and dead skin cells build up, bacteria multiply in the blockage, and the skin responds by inflaming. Hormones, stress and the wrong products all feed the cycle, which is why it rarely answers to one magic ingredient.

The instinct to scrub harder usually makes things worse. A stripped barrier produces more oil, not less — and picking turns a blemish that would settle in days into a mark that lingers for months.

What helps at home

  • A gentle cleanse twice a day — not more

  • Non-comedogenic products, introduced one at a time

  • Hands off: picking trades days of blemish for months of mark

  • Give any new routine six weeks before judging it

Where a treatment can help

Talk it through first

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. Tell us what you are seeing and we will suggest the right next step — even when that step is not a treatment.
